BARREL TEMPERATURE
The barrel heating has a soft switch on the IBED for switching it on. Pressing the switch again will switch the heaters off.
Each heating zone has a set value, an actual value, positive and negative tolerances, and an actual percent of utilization.
If the value of zero is set for a particular zone, then that zone is omitted from the monitoring process.
Appropriate positive and negative tolerances can be set quite independently and separately for each zone.
When the tolerance band is re-entered then screw rotation is prevented for the set cold start protection time.
If the temperature rises above the upper tolerance during Automatic operation, then the alarm CYLINDER TEMPERATURE TOO HIGH is set and ALARM PRESENT appears on the top of the screen and heating is switched OFF.
When the temperature sinks to below the lower tolerance, then the machine continues until the cycle is completed (as in semi-auto mode) with an alarm present CYLINDER TEMPERATURE TOO LOW.
An open circuit thermocouple will cause a temperature reading of 0OC to be displayed, in which case the machine continues until the cycle is completed (as in semi-auto mode). A short-circuited thermocouple displays room temperature.
HEATING MONITOR
Heating monitor, if enabled, switches off the machine as per the settings of switch-off matrix in case of temperature deviations.
TEMPERATURE REDUCTION
Temperature reduction (stand by temperature) is the same for all heating zones where the normal set value is greater than the set stand by temperature, otherwise the set value applies. The stand by temperature is settable. This can be used when the machine is temporarily stopped and you don’t want to waste time in heating up when restarted.
COLD START PROTECTION
Cold start protection ensures that the screw movement is prevented before the heat has actually soaked into the core of the cylinder. Always set a soaking time of 10 to 15 min.
OIL PREWARMING
Oil pre-warming can be selected to come on with the pump motor if required however no hydraulic movement is possible when it is in action. When safety gate is opened the pressure and flow for oil pre-warming will drop to idle values. Oil pre-warming will be active only in setting and manual modes.
